Former Alaska resident Lisa Spector, 51, died Oct. 27, 2008, in Port Townsend, Wash. A memorial gathering will be organized by the family. She was born Oct. 22, 1957, in Oceanside, N.Y. Lisa
will be remembered by her family for her insight, empathy and wit; by
her clients and colleagues for her caring work as a social worker in
Bloomington, Ind., and Anchorage; and by her communities for her
passionate commitment to peace and social justice. Lisa was predeceased by her daughter, Danica Spector, who was also committed to the same ideals as her mother. She
is survived by her father, Herb Spector of Carlsbad, Calif.; her
sisters, Helena Spector of Anchorage and Alida Gertz of Cleveland,
Ohio; her brother and sister-in-law, David Spector and Magda Bechar of
Belchertown, Mass.; and her nephew, Lafe Spietz of Boulder, Colo. Donations
